Happy #DouglassWeek 2023 〰️

Happy last day of #DW2023, everyone!

On this last day, after a glorious event last night, we started the day with our “Remembrance and Reflection at the Frederick Douglass Gravesite” event at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Nettie Washington Douglass as well as a variety of others speakers paid their respect to Frederick Douglass, Anna Murray Douglass, Annie Douglass and Helen Pitts Douglass - and shared many great stories! Also, The Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery gave a very insightful talk about the Douglass family in Rochster! We will have videos of all of this online very soon!

At the same time, online, for the third time, our friends at Barretstown in Kildare offered their '#DouglassWeek program:
A child-friendly online virtual exhibition on the parallel themes of #DouglassWeek and Barretstown, of inclusion, family support, kindness and humanity; including video content created at Barretstown and also by local Irish school children. In addition, you can watch the live-stream of the Ballymore Connect Choir performing in front of the castle at Barretstown. WATCH HERE.

The second to last event, was a special Wild Ones Salon pop-up for #DouglassWeek, for which we were joined by Fahmeda Naheed who shared her thoughts on the themes of International Women’s Day and so this year the theme is Embrace Equity. We will upload this video to our YouTube channel as well and let you know.

As an uplifting close to #DouglassWeek, some of our team members will recap this year’s event series and announce the location for #DouglassWeek 2024. As we always say, after #DouglassWeek is before #DouglassWeek! WATCH HERE.

And that's a wrap. Thank you for an outstanding week, with more than 40 events, and contributions from more than 5 countries! We can't wait for next year!

Thank you, everyone, for being part of #DouglassWeek 2023, and thank you for believing in us.

If you missed any events or want to share with others, go to our YouTube channel and watch and rewatch all of our events!
